The Incident |
|
Two amazing African Tails volunteers, Andre and Richelle, who run the Klapmuts Haven found Lucy (as they named her) tied up to a railway line where she was left to be hit by a train!
Lucy's (also pregnant) back legs was stretched out to be tied to her front legs and her head was tied to the bolt that holds the track in place where her head was just centimeters away from the track.
A train went over her leg where the paw was cut off and the muscle had been ripped from the already smashed bone!
Lucy is currently at the Market Street Animal Hospital where wonderful vets from the SPCA have stabilized her. The SPCA chief inspectorate Andries Venter had offered to do the further remedial operations.
SPCA chief inspector Andries Venter said they suspect the dog was tied to the railway line because she was pregnant.
NSPCA spokeswoman Chris Kuch said: "In the event that an animal is no
longer wanted, please take it to an SPCA. No questions will be asked."
It is just SICK how people can do this to the loving animals and when I hear such things it really breaks my heart!!!

I read in African Tail's Facebook page that Lucy is at SPCA Wellington branch. I hope SPCA investigate and try to find this scum. And I hope the courts actually do something.

Why did these despicable people take the time to torture this poor girl when they could have just taken her to the SPCA. People like this start on animals and go on to humans - may they be found and let the punishment fit the crime. I'll be in the queue after Karen!

Upon reading this article in this weeks people magazine, I was sick to my stomach!
To know that there are people that can actually do this, is beyond me...
I am so saddened by this more than anything else, because this dog, "Lucky Lucy" did not deserve this, yet alone her unborn pups. I know it is not for us to seek revenge, but I really do pray that whoever was responsible for doing this will be riddled with guilt for the rest of their lives and know that they will get what they deserve!
I came home to my two lovely Jack Russels today, Harry & Layla and I am just so angered, because seeing them, I really cannot comprehend how anyone could want to hurt any animal!

Thank God for people like Andre and Richelle. The SPCA is there for a reason, those sick people could have taken her there. I cannot believe some monster could do that to an innocent, cute dog, especially when she is going to have puppies. I hope they get caught, and tied to a rail road themselves. DISGUSTING. I am glad Lucy is okay, she is so beautiful.

I saw/ read of this story for the first time whilst driving to work one day - it was a headline on one of "Die Son's" lamp-postposters.
I havent been able to bring myself to read more about it, because the thought of what that poor animal went through is too much for me to bear. The mear thought sends my mind whizzing, tears to my eyes and not to mention the amount of sleep that I have lost because of the nightmares.
I accidentally came aross the story in People magazine yesterday, and could only read the first column.
I just want say thank you to the good people that rescued Lucy, and especially to the man who first found her tied to the railway tracks and took the initiative to find someway to cut her free.
I just cant comprehend the lengths to which some people will go to be cruel to another of God's children.
Everyday I loose more and more respect for mankind, and the vicious acts which some can perform.
Thank you again to the team that rescued Lucy, and I pray that she recovers quickly and that her and her pups find a happy and healthy home, where they can live in peace, safety and security.

Obviously people must have seen the owner with the dog in Wellington and with the reward being offered, I'm quite sure someone will spill the beans! And the owner should be sentenced seeing this pathetic government doesn't do death sentence anymore! But then again with this government you won't see much justice, he's too busy breeding 20 illiterate new brats!

I really do hope, that as the initial article said, when Lucky Lucy is better that she will guide her finders to the owner. I so wish I could go with. My cell in Pollsmoore can be booked!!! I am so tired of reading about the cruelty that animals have to suffer. If the internet had been available 20 years ago my life would have taken a different direction. I cannot walk into a shop, look at the shelves, especially a pharmacy, detergents, anything that is tested on animals. The degradation and cruelty they have to suffer is despicable. Lets not forget about factory farming methods. Please, let everyone look at what is going on around them, animal abuse is everywhere and in every form.

This is extremely upsetting to just think what the poor little dog had to go through. How long it must have felt for her before someone rescued her. It was heroic for that man to went to someone to ask for help to rescue her and to them who them untied her and took her to the vet. Someone said in their remark that they would probably not find the owner, but I believe otherwise - I am 100% positive that they will and that he will be punished - no one gets away with inflicting such unbearable pain without somewhere in their lifetime being punished for it, that is for sure ! I see on the photo that she seems a little better and hope that she will quickly recover and I am sure she will with all the people who care for her.

The people who did this, the people who do any form of animal abuse deserve to be locked away for life or (if we had the death penalty in this country) have a death sentance. After reading this article in the People I was devistated, it really makes me HATE alot of mankind.
Humans think they are at the top of the food chain but we are not...we have just destroyed it!
We need people to unite and and make government realise that animal crimes are as serious as any other and PEOPLE MUST BE PUNISHED!!!!!

What these people do not realise. Whatever you do to other will come back to you. Something bad will happen to this person and then they will have to realise that they cause their own pain. God cannot condone any cruelty, HE is LOVE and expect us to have respect for any life.

It should be like overseas, where people actually get severe fines and sometimes jail sentances. They should be prohibited from ever owning another animal in thier lives.

I first read this article in the People magazine, it had to be the one I picked up at my sister's to read. I cried while on the toilet and just cried while reading it again. Hope they catch the bugger and give same punishment! Sorry to hear that she lost her puppies, they would have been so cute!

Is there an update on Lucy's progress and is her tormenter any closer to being discovered and arrested? There must be people who have seen Lucy's photo and who know who did this to her! At least she appears to be in very good hands now and receiving much love. Good luck to you little Lucy and I wish you much love for the rest of your life.

My comment is similar to Carol's - is there perhaps an update on this story? I pray that justice was served - and I do not mean by the weak arm of SA law, I mean by the wrath of communities and karma...
