Killed by Irresponsible owners dogs

We live in a cal de sac in Carrington Heights, Durban. We have many dogs that live in our road and that are kept in their yards and looked after. On the 10th May 2011 around 2pm my dear little Jack Russell was taken by another dog and killed! We are very confused on how he could of gotten out of our property as he has never been out in the past 10 years that we have had him. which leads me to believe that he was taken out by someone to purposly fight another dog! My dog was not a fighter and i can not believe that someone can remove an animal from his home to hurt him! I will do anything and everything in my power to find out who is hurting other animals and is keeping such a dangerous animal in the neighbourhood!

Kindly READ the article that i have posted above properly as i have not mentioned anything about owners who look after their animals including walking them on a leash and having them secured in their properties. This dog/s were not, they have been seen walking in the road unsupervised, which means they are not secured in their property. And again i am lead to believe that somehow my dog was assisted in getting out of our garden as it is impossible for him to have gotten out on his own!

Don't be so subjective. I own a 78kg boerboel. He is not dangerous unless you come onto my property. He is properly fenced and only goes out on a leash. Am I now a criminal for keeping such a prestine animal for my family's safety?
