Some guy buy the name of James operating in the area. Tried to scam me using a fake EFT notification from Nedbank. Basic modus operandi is to accept your advertised price as is and after giving him your banking details he sends the following sms:
Nedbank Payment Notification: K.J MOHOTO has paid Rxxxx into (your bank name) Acc... xxxxxxxxx DATE Ref: (whatever ref is relevant)
Comes from a commercial number so looks legit, but watch out. He then then wants to arrange that you meet a driver, or a driver is sent to you for pick up.
I picked it up fast because the account I requested the funds being paid into doesn't give me notifications via sms. I told him candidly that I was going to wait for the funds to clear, and hasn't gotten back to me. If he was legit, he'd have responded (still no money in account either, so that further confirms it).
Don't be fooled by this guy. The above seems to be the trending method these days.
