This man by the name of Stanley Thwala contacted me yesterday saying that he was here in our store in December and wants to by a product, so asked for my details so he could email me a legitimate order confirmation. He asked for my email and I waited for his request.
I received an order on a letterhead requesting an invoice with the following company details: PHP Construction
Delivery Address: 1 Teguka Business Park, C/O Hammer Road & Spanner Crescent, Phillipi East, Cape Town, 7785
P.O. Box 51387, Phillipi East, 7785
VAT No. 4380266207
Ph: +27 0815785833
Fax: +27 (0)86 767 2197
He requested an invoice, so that he could pay immediately so I sent it to him as everything seemed legitimate.
We received a Standard Bank proof of payment from them, again looking legitimate and not too long afterwards I received a call from him to say he wanted our address to send his driver to collect.
I never asked for some reason and he never stated when he would send his driver to collect so I continued with a delivery and left the store locked with my team. While we were out our security guard called me to say the driver was there to collect, so I spoke to the driver and asked him to come back in an hour but he insisted I call Stanley to let him know when to come back. On the way back I had a moment to think carefully about it and I recalled that their POP was from a Standard Bank account and we were FNB so I double-check with my boss to see if the money reflected in our account and he declined. I called Stanley to say that I was unauthorized to let him take the goods until the money reflected in our account and he said to cancel the order, he has called back his money.
Looking back we inspected the POP, it was undeniably a fraud.
I should've also realized when he asked me where we are situated because on the phone call the day before he had said he was here in December at our premises.
Thanks to my gut feel, as I have been through this before and unfortunately been taken for a fool in a previous situation, that Stanley Thwala failed. (or whatever his actual name is)
We discovered more stories on this website regarding Stanley Thwala and I really hope he gets caught.
I reported all this to the police, unfortunately they couldn't be of much help, so people beware!
