Assisting paramedic raped

Johannesburg Emergency Service's said its response vehicles will now be fitted with panic buttons following an attack on paramedics in Roodeport on Friday night. Two female officials were ambushed by three men while attending to an injured toddler. One of them was raped in a nearby bush. Johannesburg Emergency Management Services has questioned the safety of emergency personnel following Friday night's attack on two female staff members. It said while the latest incident is an isolated one, its one too many and warrants the implementation of more drastic safety measures. Spokesperson Nana Radebe said they value the lives of their employees and will now introduce the panic button system in all their response vehicles. She has also appealed to the public to help track down the men involved in Friday night's incident. Radebe said they have been providing the necessary support to the women and their families. -Sapa
