As we were driving out of the parking area at the Cavendish mall a man was parked behind the other cars that were in parking bays, blocking the road. we could not overtake as a vehicle was coming from the other direction. When clear, I, as passenger, rolled down my window and said " A parking place would be easier!". We then pulled off and proceeded to leave the parking area. As we pulled away I could see him shouting and waving his arms in what appeared to be an aggressive manner. At this point I stuck my hand out and "gave him the finger".
We pulled into another small shopping area about 600m down the road, and as we were about to pull into the parking bay there, the man from Cavendish pulled up beside us on the passenger side of our car, at a speed. He did not come to a complete stop. He suddenly pulled forward and turned in front of us while we were still moving and he slammed the brakes, causing us to collide the front left corner of our bumper with the top of his back right tyre rim.
He jumped out his vehicle shouting at us to "get out the f$%&ing car". We rolled up our windows and locked the doors. We informed him we were calling the police on our cellphones. As the call did not go through we called the drivers husband who was at work nearby to come to our aide.
I then phoned the man's boss as he was driving a company vehicle and it had the work number on the driver's door.
The boss, a lady, arrived and she kept the man on one side of the parking lot while we stood by the cars at the other end.
After waiting approximately twenty minutes for the police to arrive (the station is about 1km away) we decided to exchange names and contact details and depart the scene.
As there is no lasting damage (to the vehicles, anyway) we have decided not to pursue the matter with charges. However, a record does need to be kept of this incident and hence I write this within the first hour after leaving the scene.
No names will be mentioned, unless it is pursued from either side, at which time I retain the right to make the incident free and public knowledge to all.
