I received an SMS informing me that I won R550 000 in VTECH ATM end of year promo. I should logg in to WWW.online.itechuk.org and insert my ref no. that was in the SMS. There was also a number to contact 078 4181982 Bruce.
I visited the site. Everything looked very ligitimate. I phoned Bruce on the said nr. He assured me that payouts have been taking place throughout the country. I should visit the site and follow the instructions, come down to their offices in PE, Fair view office park,
66 Ring Road,
and should I not be able to do that, I can send an e-mail to the e-mail address on the site, which is email@example.com (that's what gave it away for me) for assistance from an agent. The reason they want you to come down in person, is to prevent fraud/corruption with regards to falsification. But should you not be able to come down to PE before the end of the month (Nov 2012), then you can pay a re-fundable deposit of R900 and they will assist you further (yeah right, like that is happening). Be careful with this one. Very convincing. My colleague phoned VTECH and spoke to the CEO's PA, who confirmed that this is a scam and it's happened before where they're company's name is being tarnished. firstname.lastname@example.org
