I have received countless of these winning text messages and always just delete them, as there are just too many spelling errors in these messages... My mother has received a similar message today from 07812887373: "Congratulations! Ur sim no won R195.000 & Hp laptop in our Rica Online Promo ref no ZNK012 for claim call Mrs Caroline on 0724618556 for your cash prize thank u" My mom phoned the stated number and they asked for her bank details, which she refused to give.. They gave her another number (0739339530) to call to confirm that she has won. This man said she has definitely won and need not give her banking details and would receive the cheque before 5pm the same day. She then received the following text message: "Attentions 'this message is from rica payment department regarding the transfer of ur R195,000 you have to pay the sum of R1,750 for insurance approval certificate .transfer charges & delivery of ur Hp laptop becaus your money was insured call mr frank no this 0739339530 for payment instruction thank you." As you can see the spelling, grammar and punctuation is terrible and is clearly a fraud... Also who would be required to pay insurance, transfer or delivery fees on something you have won and not entered for. This would obviously be deducted from the monies beforehand....
