To the person who wrote the following letter to us regarding our motorcycles:
“THE TENANTS UNIT NO XX KRONENBOSCH COMPLEX
YOU AND YOUR BIKES ARE CAUSING A TERRIBLE NOISE AND THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THE REST OF THE RESIDENTS. ALSO WORKING ON BIKES IN THE ROADWAY. THE NOISE OF YOUR BIKES ON A SUNDAY WHEN WE WANT PEACE AND QUIET, REVVING THOSE BIKES. OUR INSIDE ROADS ARE NOT YOUR PERSONAL RACE TRACK HERE ARE CHILDREN PLAYING AND MOTHERS WITH BABIES.
TAKE YOUR BIKES TO A RACE TRACK.”
Note: If you are not the guilty party, please ignore the following reply:
We have been living in this complex for nearly 6 years now and have come to the realization that you learn to live with life’s little irritations that come with living in a complex. There are MANY things that go on in this complex that irritate us…… but, we live with it!
Like for instance…
The dogs that roam the grounds barking at residents and crapping in peoples parking bays which WE have to wash away – but we live with it.
The kids that throw balls against garage doors, racing their bicycles up and down and running around screaming when we want PEACE and QUIET – but we live with it.
Like those same kids that come and loiter around our garage and constantly ask questions about the bikes, wanting to learn. It’s a pain – but we live with it.
Like the babies that cry during the early hours of the morning – but we live with it.
Like the people that have sex loud enough that both the row of units above and below them can hear them – but we live with it.
Like the people that have parties on a week night until 12 o’clock, even though the rules clearly state no noise after 10 o’clock – but we live with it. And when that does happen, we go and knock on their door and tell them to keep it down, not write a petty anonymous letter and stick it in their mailbox!
When we do work (“actually wash”) our bikes on a weekend and it’s in front of our garage it is because there is nowhere else to do so. And believe it or not we DO try our best to be out of everyone’s way that comes by. If we can, we work (“actually wash”) in the visitors bay in front of our flat.
And one more thing, you criticize us for not having consideration for kids in the road when there are cars that race faster around these corners that can potentially take out a child!!! AT NO POINT DO WE RACE AROUND THE COMPLEX!!!
We would have had a lot more respect for you if you had just come to tell us that we were making too much noise rather than writing a snotty letter without the guts to add your name or flat number.
People that choose to live in a complex need to learn to be considerate to their neighbours, BUT also accept that that is the lifestyle of a complex and it comes with the territory.
In all the years we have lived in this complex and with all the shit that irritates us, we have NEVER written letters, vandalized property or caused a fuss – we have learned to LIVE WITH IT!! AND WE THINK YOU SHOULD TOO!!
If you can’t handle it you should consider moving to a retirement home.
Natalie and EtienneXX Kronenbosch
P.S. If you need a demonstration of how it REALLY sounds when you REV a bike, you know where we live………………
