  • Hans4 5 Jul 2015, 07:54 AM

It is July 2015 and these fraudsters are still hard at it with the exact no as 3 yes ago. My vodacom no is brand new and used only for data in my iTab. I have nobody this no, yet Lerato has it wanting to give me R200,000.00. Nokia and Vodacom.... You want us to report these sms's and e-mails. Why and what for as it have been done for years now and it is clearer than daylight that we are still being bugged by these evildoers invading our privacy. Perhaps these messages come from you generating more income under cover in a very dodgie fashion and manner. Either way shame on you for leaving us to do your dirty work.

  • Paul Citizen 23 Jan 2014, 01:26 PM

So the point of taking all of this time to hash through this is to help anyone else who is researching these things. It is interesting above there was a comment of saying how do we know this website isn't a scam. Well, it is not asking for money or saying we won something, it is just helping people educate themselves in the ever increase barrage of scams/fraud.

  • Paul Citizen 23 Jan 2014, 01:25 PM

There are few angles for this scam. Gleaning information and/or extracting fees for delivering or processing. I did call Miss Mary Peter and asked if the cheque as ready to be sent out. Yes it was. Then I asked if the cheque as at their office which is was not because it was at their financial department down the street, but Yes they had the cheque. She was very surprised when I said that I could pick up the cheque myself so that we could forgo all the extra effort and cost. She agreed and provided me a bogus address that immediately was listed through google map as invalid. Click, the phone went dead after I told her that. So second call, she handed me to the Office Manager who told me that their business is to provide either payment or a cheque and was I trying to tell him how to run his business. I answered, Yes, I am trying to tell you how to run a business if You are representing Nokia." Funny enough he calmed down and said that I could pick up the check myself if I had my ID and birth certificate. "Great, I have both of them, so what is your physical address"? He then asked, "You have your ID and birth certificate"? I answered, "sure I do, everyone has these things". Then again I asked for the physical address and click, the line went dead.

  • Paul Citizen 23 Jan 2014, 01:24 PM

From there, a second sms is received and this is what it communicated and with some serious spelling and grammar issues: Am Mrs Magreat Fisher Nokia Global general accoutant, This is to inform you that your cheque of R175,000 is now ready to deliver to your address Through the UPS curier service. Note that this prize has insurance cover makin it's impossible for any on till it gets to you. You are requested to make a deposit available the sum of R2,000 for insurance cover and lawyer documentation fee. kindly call Miss Mary Peter on:0787008546 for payment details.

  • Paul Citizen 23 Jan 2014, 01:23 PM

I think it is worth providing information to this site in full detail because when I came to the site, I have been able to find various scams that come through email or sms. The below is the sequence of information as I wanted to be able to provide the variations below. This is what I received from Mr Martin on 0764611673 Congratulation! Your cell number has won you the sum of 175,000 in Nokia Global Promotion 2014. Ref no: 4 digits & 3 capital letters. call Mr Martin on 0764611673 for claim I called Mr Martin & he asked me to text him my full name, address, bank with account number, and verify my cell number. After a brief discussion we agreed that I would provide my lawyers address where the cheque would be delivered immediately. Because I was not willing to provide information, but communicated that I have a legal representative who could provide the same, the second option instead of having the funds deposited in my, was to have a bank cheque delivered.

  • francinah 16 Jan 2014, 10:45 AM

please trace this scammers and deal with them, as they are attaching vonerable people with this and some people fall into their traps, its lowering the quality of Nokia

  • Username4385 17 Dec 2013, 04:28 PM

Firstly, I received an sms from them as well. When you call, the ask if you want them to send your cash through the bank or through post, either way they're gaining profile information about you. So whether you think that they don't have you ID number or your banking details, you still aren't safe. When you apply to silly online loan applications where the company registration number isn't available, or they don't advise that they are certified financial advisers, these schemes are gathering bits and pieces of your information. all that is now required is for them to match your name and address to those details of which they find from online information in order to call you and pretend to be "SARS" in the future. Having your cell phone (when on contract) is a problem due to sim swaps being done and your contract being "stolen", or even your email address for those email as that are sent through to you to reset you online banking password.....DO NOT GIVE OUT OR CONFIRM ANY CELL NUMBER, EMAIL ADDRESS OR OTHER PERSONAL INFORMATION ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE... Its Just not worth the risk anymore...

  • steve 15 12 Dec 2013, 05:39 PM

  • Donald Harkness 29 Oct 2013, 09:52 AM

Obviously a scam, all Ticket numbers are the same 0166p. I got the same message 20 minutes ago. I was told to call Mrs Rose on 0827363857 but the sms came from 0790576363 . I called Mrs Rose on 0827363857 and she asked me for my name and ticket number and told me to call back in 5 minutes. I then found this site and realized it was the 0166p scam like others here. I tried to call back to give Mrs Rose a big scare - I was planning to bullshit the bullshitter, But the idiot did not answer. Stuped scammers keep using the same ticket number LOL.

  • Riaan Kruger 28 Oct 2013, 08:03 AM

  • Unkown 24 Oct 2013, 08:35 PM

Geez, All these people reporting in here...I'm not even sure if I should waste time reporting on this anyone in here got some kind of feedback? Is this website actually legit? Is anything being done to find out who these people are??? I have a great advice to all of you...this is what I did: I called Sharon, and I asked her to take every cents of that money I won and to shove it deep. We swore at each other for a little while, she hung up, I changed numbers, called her again, swore at her some more... And that actually turned out to be a great therapy...I was kinda having a bad day at work that day , and swearing at somebody actually relieved my stress...that felt really great! So people, don't be scared of wastin a couple of minutes from your them and tell them what you have in mind! Thanks.
