Electricity supply was disconnected by the municipality on 26 March 2013. My tenant informed the agent who advised me the same day. I paid on the same day and sent proof of payment to the municipality and the agent. Bloemeyers electrical contractors went to the house to reconnect electricity the same afternoon. While they were busy, a municipal van drove past and drove into the yard to speak to Bloemeyers and they left. The next morning, the municipal employees came back and removed the meter claiming Bloemeyers was illegally reconnecting supply. The tenant asked them why they did not say anything the day before when they saw Bloemeyers reconnecting supply illegally and there was no clear answer. I want to report the illegal connection of supply to the SAPS and the municipality is refusing to give me the names of their employees who witnessed the illegal connection. The municipality says it reprimanded Bloemeyers and the agent but they refused to re-open my supply until I paid R13 000 today - as per their demand. They will also not give me names of the Bloemeyer contractor and the agent so I can open a police report. Last week, I phoned the Municipal Manager while at the police station with the police and he gave us his CFO number. They will still not give any names. Please help me as I want to report the fraud to the police and I feel the municipality is colluding with Bloemeyers and the agents by refusing to give me the names of the people involved.
