Received congratualatory SMS from 072 2523139 for having won R25k in Yrly Rica Promo. Knowing that it was a scam I phoned 073 798 2176 as instruced to claim prize on 02 Sept 2013 and quoted a different ref number to that stated to a gent named Paul. He confirmed that the number was correct (??) and advised that I would have to provide him with a number of my personal details to confirm my ID and facilitate thhat e payment of the prize. As suspected he said that these would include things like address, banking details, etc. He cut me off when I told him that I was prepared to co-operate but warned that our conversion was being recorded. I could only get the the "leave a message" repsonse from the same number in the two hours following my initial call. According to a source of mine in the SAPS, it is possible to track the GPS address of any cell phone at any time. Who is responsible for triggering such an action? Surely, it thus a pretty easy operation to apprehend these scamsters in a sting op? I will gladly assist anyone who has the necessary means and legal authority to someting about this long-running scourge!
