I purchased a SIM card at the MTN outlet Fourways next door to a supermarket. I noticed that the person serving me made no eye contact nor addressed me directly. I can identify him. I had a few problems with my settings as my phone was set to UK settings. I noticed that he TESTED my phone by emailing his personal phone...and by sending txts to his personal phone... THEREFORE HE NOW HAS MY NO. Today...29th October I have receveid the standard SCAM SMS... have won R250 000... Rica promotion???? They cant even spell...nevermind using an official letterhead.... So WHAT IS THE POINT OF FILING THIS REPORT IF NO ONE IS DOONG ANYTHING ABOUT IT....IS MY QUESTION. JUST ANOTHER REASON FOR ANOTHER TOURIST TO GO ELSEWHERE ...

I have received this sms over 10 times. Just actually phoned back on the number, asking for the company VAT number. The man speaking (His name was Halaal or something)waited a moment and answered while I could hear someone in the background telling him a number - which turned out to be a land line and not a VAT number! "RICA:-) Congratulations!! your Mobile no was Randomly selected in Rica yearly promo 2013. you have won R850, 0747955625 for claims With Ticket/NO:Uk42" Please call that number as much as you can and spam the cellphone!
