Our two dogs – a 7yr old boerboel and 8mnth old terrier cross – were poisoned with two-step poison (a pesticide called aldicarb) at about 02h00am Saturday morning.
My husband heard our terrier crying outside – thinking she was just being naughty, he quieted her through the room window. We set our alarms for 03h45 to go fishing (thank the Lord). By the time the alarms went off, the terrier was still howling outside. My husband went to check what was going on, now worried that something serious may be wrong.
Having read up on aldicarb on the internet only a few months ago – he recognized the symptoms immediately. The terrier was worse off – she has a huge appetite, and probably ate the biggest piece of whatever meat might have been used to poison the dogs. Our boerboel didn’t make a sound, but was poisoned as well.
We found an emergency vet in Witfield and rushed to the clinic just after 04h00am. They got medical help just in time, and our dogs’ lives could still be saved.
We’ve reported the incident to our local police who send out a patrol car to our house immediately. We also notified our security company.
