I advertising my old laptop on Gumtree I was contacted by someone calling himself Christopher Hollande, from an email address email@example.com, saying that he was interested in buying the laptop.
After a number of emails it was agreed that I meet his brother at central location to do the exchange, because he could not be there as he had to go out to Durban for some undisclosed reason.
Before I left he said would pay the money into my account once his brother had checked laptop. I sent him my banking details and went of to meet his brother at N1 City mall.
After waiting a while, his brother arrived and said he was living in Maitland. I showed him that the laptop was in working order, chatted to him a bit, and to this brother on the phone, saying that he had made the payment.
A minute later I received payment notification from FNB, from the number +2784000151070651, saying that payment was made into my account. I waited two days to see if the money had cleared but nothing was there and still isn't.
My laptop's details as advertised on Gumtree was the following: "Dell Inspiron N4020 Laptop - 14" - Pentium T4500 - Windows 7 Home Basic 64-bit - 4GB RAM - 300GB HDD"
