Cops attacked in Willowvale

A policeman was critically injured when he and two colleagues were shot at in Willowvale on Monday afternoon, Eastern Cape police said.

The inspector, a captain and a woman working in the Willowvale police station's kitchen were shot at while walking home near the Msengeni wholesaler around 4.30pm, Captain Jackson Manatha said in a statement.

The 48-year-old inspector was hit in the upper and lower body. His attacker also took his service pistol. The other two were unhurt. Six spent cartridges were found on the scene.

No arrests had been made.
