BT Mobile SCAM

I received 2x sms saying "You are the lucky winner of R250 000.00 from BT Mobile Uk Ref# IQZ3UK. Contact 0781444699 immediately - ad - Supplement Store Go- www.wm.co.za/142. Then I phoned and Mr Jeff Morris picked up and told me I am the lucky winner of R250 000.00 I must go to the website and register, then the money will be transferred to me. Then Cargo Shift sent me an sms "We have received your parcel from BT mobile UK and your Tracking number is: RSA63452ZZ7467." To track your parcel go to www.deliveryoffice.net Then again from Cargo Shift "Package Received... Awaiting Insurance Fee of R2 500.00.:Physical delivery to you takes 24 hours." I received banking details of S Gusha Absa and I paid the R2 500.00 security fee. I received an e-mail from BRUCE BRAND promoline.plaza@rocketmail.com that I have to pay a tax finalization fee of R5 100.00. I paid the tax fee into 2 x accounts R2 400.00 into MW Saba Nedbank and R2 700.00 into AS Mnisi Nedbank. Then they wanted me to pay R18 700.00 demurage fee for Reserve Bank tax. BRUCE BRAND said that he would help me with R10 000.00 but I have to pay him back R20 000.00 when I get the money. I wanted to make a loan from my boss of R8 700.00 Luckily my boss helped me and I found out that this is a scam. Luckily I am only R7 600.00 in debt and not more. Bruce Brand 078 368 1653 is still waiting for me to pay the R8 700.00   They are very good. Please be careful.

I also received a sms stating that I have won R900 000. I phoned them to find out what is required. They said I must go to PE to get my cheque for that amount. I asked directly if there was any amount that I need to pay & the guy said no. His direct words were, "you don't pay for your winnings." They even gave us an address for the BT Mobile offices. 77A West Str, Central Port, Port Elizabeth????? Wondering..........

Dear sirs Please can you assist me with a promotion BT MOBILE is doing in South Africa. I was contacted by a BT Attorney in Port Elizabeth Mr Malinga saying I have won R900000.00. He gave me your number as OO44 702 409 4469. He claimed this promotion was because BT MOBILE will be operating a network in SA later this year. aai wat, ek was vanoggend die gelukkige wenner van R99000.00 van BT mobile, kontak jou claim agent Mr Williams, 'n uitlander, by 0781809245 met jou verwysings nommer, wat hy natuurlik verifieer. Hy se jy moet 'n R200 pre paid Telkom voucher gaan koop en hom terugbel. Ek het hom gevra hoe sulke dinge gebeur, waarna hy vir my vra of ek 'n Christen is en dat christene ook so nou en dan geluk oet kry. Ek hoop Mr Williams ontmoet die Duiwel eendag persoonlik

  • Nafiesa 3 May 2011, 11:07 AM

I received the same sms last night at 01:53, I am not a sucker for these things and I looked on the internet and googled BT Mobile and I came across this warning, I phoned them from my office and they said that you must phone back in 10min, which I did. They didn't know who I was and they confirmed my reference no and congratulated me on winning R200 000 and I asked them if it was R200 000 or R250 000, then they asked me what does me sms say and I told them that they should know (with an attitude, because I knew they were a scam) I asked them to tell me which one is the correct amount and they put the phone down on me. Thanks for the warnings

  • Gary9 29 Mar 2011, 09:09 PM

I got something similar today via sms. YOU ARE A LUCKY WINNER OF R250 000 FROM BT MOBILE. UK.REF#:IQZ3UK. TO RECEIVE CASH VISIT www.btmuk.info (-AD- Win your share of R500 000! Go to www.wm.co.za/16 Now a person can buy a .info domain for $3 at www.namescheap.com, these guys have obviously got a web developer and designer because it looks legitimate. When you go to the site, it asks you to enter all of your personal details including a request to upload a copy of your ID/Passport (I'm guessing ID theft) they also ask for your banking details so on and so forth. What really caught my eye was the "contact us" link, there was no legitimate telephone number nor email address. It's a really sophisticated 419 scam and it will probably get a lot of people, hopefully this will help you all that have received the same or similar SMS's or emails. Steer clear folks.
