I recently responded to an online advert I saw on olx and purchased new camera equipment from a person by the name of John Ledley who is linked to a company called Exclusive Gadgets (Pty) Ltd who is based in East London. They operate an active website as www.exclusivegadgets.co.za with their contact details-Tel: 081 894 3973 & 081 549 8003, Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. I made a 50% deposit payment for the ordered goods into the company’s bank account and they provided me with shipment confirmation details from a company called Freight Mover Services via an active website called www.freightmoverservices.com.
I therefore did the required balance payment for the goods to be couriered to me. I did not receive the goods ordered and paid for and my inquiries in this regard to the company have been ignored. This clever scam is definitely fraudulent and I therefore reported the matter to olx, the relevant banks through which the transactions were made, as well as SAPS (Case ref Nr. CAS36/8/2015).
As an inexperienced and naïve online shopper, I learnt my lesson the hard and expensive way and would like to report and expose this company and their operations as much as possible to warn and protect other potential victims. The old saying is definitely true: If the deal is too good to be true, it definitely is. Rather pay more and order online goods from reputable suppliers.
