Yesterday I put a complained about Vodacom on Hellopeter and fraudsters got hold of my cell phone number and read my complaint. I had a migraine and was not thinking clear after taking migraine medication.

This morning I received a whatsapp message with Vodacom logo. They said that I owe R109 porting fees and if I pay over the money my account would immediately be sorted out. I was relieved as I have been waiting on Vodacom for 2 weeks to sort out my account which they never did. The fraudsters asked for my bank card number, expiry date and 3 numbers on the back which I gave them. They also asked for an OTP number which I also gave. I was not thinking straight at that moment. PLEASE NEVER GIVE YOUR OTP NUMBER TO ANYONE. While I was busy with them Vodacom phoned and told me that it was a fraudster I was talking with. I immediately phoned the bank and cancelled my card. Before my card was cancelled they withdrew R1 ( to test if the account is working) and another R112.10.

Please be aware of info going onto Hellopeter and to NEVER give your OTP number to anyone.
