Government tender

I received this request for a quote via email today. When I followed up I was told that if I dont send a quote I would be removed from the government tender list. This is a scam asking professionals to supply quotes and then goods which they will probably be asked to pay into an account for. Can someone follow up and stop these guys from possibly catching some one unaware

Aha....thanks Andre....that helps me out too. I had a different theory though but yours seems more practical as they recently were insisting for a batch number on goods i had quoted on. I guess to confirm I was procuring from their people. I had thought its a serious chain, wherein for example a genuine employee of a department is aware of an upcoming tender. The fake department get unsuspecting supplies to provide the goods...obviously being ripped off to never receive payment. By the time the tender does come out publicly, they collude and submit a quotation at a dead cheap price because they effectively got the goods for free and as a result win the job and the real department pays out.

Fortunately, I have not been caught. My first suspicion was the PO that came in less than 24hrs. Since then...the domain I know is fake as government is always I have also been in business for a while and know at least one person in most departments. I ask them to check if that person sending me the rfq is a genuine employee or not blah blah blah.

They already caught many people in this way. They only change the name of the goods they require. When you source the goods, only one (fake) company can supply it. When you order and pay for the goods your money is gone and they caught another person. This is a well planned scam!
