SA Motors (WON VW Polo SCAM)

Guys are calling random numbers stating that you have won a brand new VW Polo and that you need to pay a deposit of R3000 for delivery and insurance fees. They claim that you need to make the deposit before they can release the vehicle. First they call you stating that you have won the car and that they will be in touch with you over the next few days to arrange delivery. Secondly, they call you to confirm details and ask that you please make payments before they release the car. When I told the guy why are they trying to SCAM people, he hung up. I called him back and said that he is being traced to which he hung up again. Numbers they're using 061 406 0410 and 021 828 1850

I received the same message today. I had to call the number 0810019744. A foreign guy picked up the phone and said they are based in Cape Town, Long Street 24 and I can come to their offices if I want to see whether it is the truth.

He then said I should sms my personal details and where I would like the car to be delivered to. I will apparently get the car the next day. He said I didn't enter any competition, but my number was selected by GM MOTORS and I won this car. I phoned him twice, just to make sure that this is legit.

I will be taking the necessary steps tomorrow against these scam crimes, I will walk the extra miles if I have to. These scams NEED to stop!!! These people need to be LOCKED UP for scamming the people out of their money

    Be safe people!!!

I received a SMS this morning also stating that I won a brand new VW Polo car. I had to phone 071 828 5603 to claim my prize. A foreign male answered and asked for my reference number and then my address. When I said I will rather collect the car he said they are based in Cape Town. I then ended the call because I thought it could be a scam. I then decided to Google SA Motors and came across The Report a Crime. I am so glad I didn't give him any details. Please be careful.

This scam is still active. I received an sms notification from +27630458718 saying id won a car from VW . I knew it was a scam, cause I'd not entered such a competition. But I called the number, just to hear ......( actually wanted to give them hell). spoke to a foreign speaking male. ( sounded like he could be foreign national, Malawian, Congo etc). He wanted my ref number etc and then I ended the call. This people are spineless.
This is the number to call to confirm your so called winnings etc. 0822347930
Are these Vodacom numbers? Or random?
    Take care out there folks.

I have also been scammed, a lady by the name of Yolanda contacted me from 0218255312 and stupid as I was,we made 2 payments. One of R1025 and another of R 2300. I was emailed a winning certificate, and contacted by a Peter van Ek via email. This morning the lady phoned and said sorry, truck was in an accident, and now they will compensate us with the value,R250 000. A cheque for the amount was deposited, but now we were told to pay R9750 for clearing the cheque, within 3 days,or payment will be stopped! Everytime we made a payment,it was into a different FNB account!
