Ozzie is a 10 yr old cat living in
the Nova Constantia area –
close to the farm. A
member (Constantia resident) confronted two boys – dressed in
pellet guns - during one of his patrols. He enquired about their
as it appeared as if they were shooting into the trees. The replied
that the ”are
shooting vermin” …. These so-called ‘vermin’ - that they are referring
to - are….
Squirrels, guinea fowls, pigeons etc.
Unfortunately it appears as if Ozzie might have fallen into the same category….. This poor cat took nearly two days to CRAWL back home….where the owner immediately took the Ozzie to the emergency animal hospital in Kenilworth….
You will see the shoulder is completely SHATTERED! …. The Vet that operated said the only way that a pellet gun can do so much damage is when shot at point-blank range!!!! The guy that confronted these children – took the guns away from them and insisted to speak to their father….who was furious for all the wrong reasons….. (‘What are you doing with my son’s guns? Give them back”) Even after being informed about their ‘extermination of vermin’…. I think the plan is so lay a charge of animal cruelty and let the SPCA and SAPS handle things…. I’m so upset that I’m posting this onto my Facebook page so raise awareness of the despicable acts of ‘our’ youth…and they come from the so-called ‘up market’ area!!!! I don’t know what we would gain from it – but hey…name-and-shame! Ilze Rens
