I attempted to sell an iPhone on gumtree for R13,000. The perpetrator texted me a false confirmation of payment from his ABSA bank acct to my FNB account. He then had a driver, David, meet me to pick up the "paid for" phone.
I gave him the phone, assuming the money to be coming soon to my account. Later in the evening I was suspicious and called ABSA, only to find out the confirmation was faked.

The stolen phone has just been posted by the perpetrator on gumtree, trying to re-sell. The address listed is 50 Durban Rd, 7700 and the phone number provided in the ad is 074 752 6558. This is the EXACT phone that was stolen earlier today. I have a receipt with the Model number, and the phone is not yet for sale in South Africa.

Dear Rudi, I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you, too, but so glad that my loss has helped to keep you safe.... I have given all information to the police, but if you would like to contact W/O Kriel at Cape Town Central, he would be glad to know of more cases of this fraud. I hope these people can be put to justice!

I have also received a period of payment for this phone number. I will not release the goods if it does not reflect in my bank account, can this thief not get arrested
