Microsoft scam

I just received a phone call from someone with an Indianaccent telling me about “Microsoft” receiving error messages from my computer. He claims that I have a malicious Worm on my computer that will render mycomputer useless. He guided me through a process where I enter some commandsinto the run box of my computer where a window pops up showing me the errors onmy computer. After this he tells me that he will help me fix the problem. Hetells me to enter another command into the run box that opens Internet Explorerand opens a site called Thissite shows an application that gives the operators remote access to yourcomputer. This is where I refused to give him access to my computer. He gotvery impatient and put the phone down in my ear. We have a phone that tracks incoming numbers, so I checkedwhere the phone call from and googled the number 00200050404. I then got to awepage warning about hoaxes from people who try to get remote access to yourcomputer and then want you to give them your credit card details for theiramazing software. Here is the address for that article:

I've had 3 calls in 2 days, also from Indian sounding people, the 3rd one was by a woman (maybe they thought I'd trust her more). I listened to her spiel while interjecting questions about her name....Leona Parker!!!! hahaha what a joke. Her lines where same as the others, then told her she needed to call my husband as he needs this info since he heads up the cyber crime unit (a lie) she just hung up the phone. What more do you need to confirm it's a scam?!

I hold Telkom to blame - they call from fake numbers - Telkom needs to review the fake numbers and let us report and track it back. If we can track it to the source then I will figure out a way to raise hell on them for calling my home once a week and still swears at me asking for my ID number.

I allso get numerous calls from them. They get your home telephone number from Telkom. I am so dissapointed that sensitive information like this can be so easily obtained from Telkom. Well done Telkom.

    Err: ...I get a few calls... (a week -)

These calls have been plaguing me for many months, I call a few call a week - sometime exactly simultaneously on both my lines. I've tried the "bad karma" phylosophical approach and the "you're a bunch of scammers in India", as well as "how's the weather in Mumbai?" (when they say they're calling from MicroSoft, Sandton (!), then I get told to "fuck off" and the cal is ended. SURELY, in these modern techno times that we live in, the calls can be traced to a location in India? Please help, someone out there!

I got a call from the same number and he went through the routine. I asked him if it was possible that some scam artist was trying to take advantage of me and defraud me of my money and he hung up. Be warned, it does sound convincing to the uninformed.
