RICA Competition scam
I received a sms this morning at 04:52, from a number 0792370328, with the following message: "RICA REWARD! You have successfully registered for RICA & Your SIM has won R450000.00 from RICA with ref No: (SA/UK03) Please call 00817710741 for Activation & Claim." I phoned and got the details of the scam, where I was requested to please buy R110 airtime, sms the pin number for the airtime, my name, surname and postal or physical address for them to send a cheque or give my banking details for them to bank the money. I did not do this, I did however phone every contact number I could find for RICA to report the scam, but was unsuccessful. So I decided to report it here.

I got a sms from a cell number stating i won R195000 with rica promo. I had to call a Mr Desmond Joe, which when i questioned about buying R180.00 MTN airtime, he got very agressive over the phone with me and refused to answer My questions. Why would anyone have to pay a big company money to get money. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM - hope they get caught
