Even taxi drivers get hijacked!

Johannesburg - Police were searching for two men who allegedly hijacked a taxi driver in Actonville on Saturday, Gauteng police said.

Constable Gordon Nyathi said the two suspects hijacked a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi on the corner of Reading and Hira streets at around 13:00.

"They told the driver to take them to Daveyton," said Nyathi. The driver was accompanied by his 23-year-old cousin.

They got onto the N12 and then drove towards Witbank.

As they got to the Etwatwa turn-off, the hijackers told the driver to slow down. As they were driving, they told the taxi driver to get out of the vehicle.

The driver jumped out, but was not injured.

The hijackers then drove on towards Witbank, holding the man's cousin hostage.

Nyati asked for anybody who sees the vehicle (registration XRT 468 GP) or any of the men to contact him at 079 695 1305.

"Both the hijackers were dark in complexion. One was wearing a new yellow Bafana Bafana shirt and a black trousers and the other was wearing a brown shirt. [The taxi driver's cousin] was wearing a white T-shirt and blue trousers."
