She then told me to go to Shoprite and buy R200.00 Telkom prepaid voucher and send her the numbers beginning with 091. i did with excitement and send her the voucher. now i understand that i had been hoaxed. I have just called her just a few minutes ago using a different number and she answered sounding very surprised that i haven't received a call as yet from SAMSUNG. She then promised to call back after enquiring from them. i now know i will not hear from her again. i hope something is done before many like me are defrauded by these fruadsters.

I received this sms from 0711132871 today: Congratulations ! You have won the sum of R125,000. Your mobile number was randomly slected among the lucky winners in our SAMSUNG YEARLY PROMOTION, your serial no. 2075, for claim pls call Mr. George Yarkah on 0799335076. Called and he answered! Ask me when I had received the sms. Told me that I have 2 options for prize payment: Bank deposit or bank guaranteed cheque via ABSA or FNB and asked which I would prefer. I said cheque via ABSA. Quickly informed me to sms him my name, fax number and physical address. I asked him if this was a hoax and he said that was why they were prepared to send a bank guaranteed cheque so as to protect my banking details and was quite in a hurry to put down the phone. Needless to say I did not send him anything and rather checked this site out to confirm if this was a hoax.

I entered the Samsung competition on TV I gor an sms telling me I won R175 OOO.and contact Mrs Dube
Hey everyone - i have the SAME story but seems like i was short changed on the "amount i won"!! Same message " Your mobile number has won R95000.00 in our SAMSUNG YEARLY PROMO with Ref num xxxx Call Cindy on 0782019336 between 9am to 6pm." What i want to know is why no action is taken against the perpetrators? seeing as though RICA has come into effect they should know the address of the fraudsters and get to the bottom of this???!!!
I also got an sms saying to call George Yarkah. i did call to find out where he got my number from they said to send me details so they will forward me a cheque free of charge. where do these people get our numbers from ?
Received same sms and were informed to call Mr George on078 271 2824

Ticket number no : 0177sp. call your claim agent Mrs. Vanessa on 0795685561 for your cash prize. 08 am to 06 pm. This is obviously a scam as i read a comment below with the exact same details. Sick people out there!
I have also received the same sms this morning, this time It says I should call Mrs. Markus for R250 000 claim no.0166. Please, cops should do something about this scam.
I also received a sms with claim number 0177sp and I need to phone Mrs Vanessa with cellphone number 0795685561. I told her I am a police officer and this is a scam, she hung up the phone. Really something must be done about this seriuos problem. People fall for this and loses a lot of money.
I have also received the sms today saying"Congratulation!!Your no.Was among the lucky winners on the SAMSUNG YEARLY MOBILE PROMOTION.You have won R185,000.Ticket no.SA37762M.Call SIR.JOHN GREG,on 0717932359.For your Cash prize. From 8.30am-4.30pm. the number sent from is 0766985279...Its the second time now and i have swear them on their first sms...but this stupids are still caring on.
i received an sms saying congratulation for 2011 SUMSUNG PROMO.YOU WON R250,000. ticket no:0177sp. call your claim agent Mrs Vanessa for your cash price. i did phone and to my surprise the lady greeted me in setswana and i was like if this was a company she should have spoken english and not tswana, and i asked her if the sms was true and she said yes i must give her tickect ni and phne her back after 5 minutes.i never bothered to phone back coz i didnt enter any competition.
even me i recieved that sms and was told to call mrs sandra to claim but i've to buy 180 air time and sms the airtime pin with my name and address to recieve
i also recieved that scam sms and was told to call mrs sandra to claim my cash prize only to find that i had to buy airtime first to activate my winnings, i then asked her how can i buy my prize if i realy won it then i deserve it and told her to activate it and deduct that R180.oo to buy the airtime required from me she then said if i realy want my money i sould do it i then told her to keep it as from the first place i never entered any competitions of that nature. and she droped the call. i think samsung as a brand they should protect it and pay private investigator or the hawk to trace this moroons and put them where they belong in jail to rot there. please people of mzanzi dont fall this sms its a huge scam. stop fooling your self by buying your own prize
I also received this sms at 1am this morning. Definitely a scam !
I received an sms saying: Congratulation!Your number was among the lucky winners no the NOKIA YEARLY PROMO .You won R95,000. Ticket no.0166P.Call Mrs Memory Dube0734186964 Your Cash Prize. I went through the sms more than 3 times as I analyzed it in deeper details trying to find something about it. The time it was sent was awkward, the no. of both the sender and that of the person to be called (Memory Dube)are not RICA compliant. Having miraculously won out of no-where u are urged to buy R360 worth of split airtime vouchers, sms the vouchers to activate your winnings. That was full proof for me that this was just a scamm. MTN also warned of such sms. We should try and be vigilant to fight crime of all forms. Our families are victimised out of desparation and these criminals are invisible. Masibambane and bust them.
also recieved an sms this morning (22/2/2011)stating "Congratulations for 2011 SAMSUNG PROMO, you WON R250 000. i think we should start irritating these people give them calls i almost did buy the airtime but i wondered how do you win a competion you never enter for. And also why should i send airtime not deposit the money to their bank account for them to run the provision of money. please lets not be fulled

I had the same sms come through today, 8 Feb 2011. Sms receieved: "Congratulations!! You have won the sum of R125,000. Your mobile number was randomly selected among the lucky winners in our SAMSUNG YEARLY PROMOTION..." The problem is that these people don't stop - and there is many a fool who fall for it!
I was just wondering, Cant the police trace these people down because when i called them we spent a long time on the phone talking to each other, so this means if the police can call them pretending to be a lucky winner, they will be able to trace to call down while they keep these scammers on the phone long enough to trace the call.
i also recieved an sms this morning stating "Congratulations for 2011 SAMSUNG PROMO, you WON R250 000. Ticket number no : 0177sp. call your claim agent Mrs. Vanessa on 0795685561 for your cash prize. 08 am to 06 pm",,,i called her & she said i shud call after 5 minutes i never called back ,,,this is a scam dont give them any details
I also recieved this information this morning (2/02/2011). But I was asked to call a Mrs Cindy. Can the police not assist in catching these people because this could become a serious problem.
I received same sms and against my better judgement I actually fell for it also and today I got a second sms saying I need to transfer R4000 to release funds. This confirmed my suspicion. How can we bring these people to justice.
I received this msg about winning R250.000 aswell (and my stupid ass actually believed these people for a moment). I would like to know wether it will be possible for them to take my money out of my bank account with only using my I.D. number and my bank account number. coz once i realised it was a scam, I removed all my cash from the bank before they could get to it. Problem now is that i cant keep removing my money from the bank everytime i get paid. what should i do?
I have recieved an sms stating the following "Congratulations for 2011 SAMSUNG PROMO, you WON R250 000.
