I received an sms on my phone at 1h30 in the night on 22 May 2015 that I have been awarded R250 000.00 from Fica. I ignored it until this morning when googled Fica awards on the internet and came across numerous complaints regarding this scam. I phoned the number supplied in the sms [which was a different number from which the sms was sent] and was told to give my bank details for a transfer of the funds. I questioned the person further and said I would prefer to come to his office and we can then do the transfer while I am there.  He agreed to this and gave me the address 120 Plein Street Cape Town.  The man who answered the phone when I called, spoke with a French accent and I suspect he is from the Congo as he has a very similar accent as friends of mine who are from the Congo.  Please do something to stop this type of crime as I am sure there are many people who have lost money through this.  I am a pensioner on a Government Sassa pension of R1410.00 and certainly cannot afford to lose money through these type of scams.
