A middle-aged sounding lady phoned and explained she was conducting a Survey on behalf of a "private company" for all South African citizens and advised that it won't cost anything, then asked if I would like to participate.
I asked where they got my number, and she said as it was a private company, where they got my number is confidential.
I asked them to remove my contact number but as I was saying that, she hung up on me.
I believe they are using questions, social engineering and phishing to extract ID numbers and other personal information (eg. e-mail addresses, passwords, bank details, etc.) from unsuspecting individuals.

Just got 2 calls from the same number. First call checked what language I am. Second call was a market survey. Company identified itself as "Narrow Cast Opinion" research agency. No results on Google for that but it was a 23 minute call on my cell number so doubt they are just doing it for fun. No private information requested just questions around the current political perceptions in SA. I think its genuine.
